In an announcement across social media channels in June, Emily Riddell shared plans to move her boulangerie and patisserie, Machine Shop, into its very own retail storefront on the first floor of the Bok Building in South Philly.

An exact opening timeline has not been revealed quite yet, but images shared over the bakery’s Instagram Story just today show the new space is filling up with baking equipment. Riddell held the bakery’s final weekly pop-up on June 26th of this year.

South Philly’s Bok Building is “an old school building turned workplace” for small businesses, creators, and artists. It’s been home to Machine Shop, along with other creative businesses for some time, although Machine Shop will be moving downstairs, to the building’s ground floor.

From morning buns to tarts to croissant, not to mention gorgeous, sturdy loaves of bread, Machine Shop offers no shortage of different pastries and breads to sample. According to Facebook, the bakery has been operating as a pop-up, delivery service since May of 2017. It’s safe to say we’re all pretty pumped to learn that soon we’ll be able to swing right in the bakery’s front doors to enjoy those treats.

While (perhaps impatiently) awaiting the opening of Machine Shop, we recommend checking out the bakery’s Instagram for a preview of the confections. You won’t be disappointed.
