Dough Head Pizza, which made its public debut back in May with an official Facebook page, is inching closer and closer to an opening day that’s tentatively planned for early October.

According to owner and operator Joseph Betzala Jr., the newest addition to South Philly’s culinary scene is currently in the process of hiring a few more staff members, putting the final touches on its storefront, and making final tweaks to the menu.

Located at 833 Wharton Street – on the corner of Wharton and South 9th Street – in a brand new building next to the now-shuttered South Philly Bar & Grill, Dough Head Pizza promises “No frills. Just really good pizza,” according to its website

Prior to opening Dough Head, Betzala served the greater Philadelphia area for nearly 20 years with his catering service, aptly named Joseph’s Catering.
