The team behind Jasper’s Backyard is hard at work on a few different concepts, including a new restaurant dubbed The Fort, located in a former Friendly’s outpost at 325 Pennsylvania Ave in Fort Washington, though an opening date is yet to be decided according to Jasper’s director of operations, Tim Foley.
In a brief text exchange with What Now Philadelphia, Foley explains that The Fort “will be similar to Jasper’s Backyard in concept and size,” and that there will be “large outdoor dining there as well.”
The Fort first went before the Upper Dublin Township Board of Commissioners during a conditional use hearing on July 12, followed by another hearing a week later to review a request for a land development waiver, paving the way for the restaurant’s outdoor dining portion.
By all accounts, it seems those requests were granted.
The Fort isn’t the only concept that Jasper’s Backyard has in the works. Yesterday, Nov 1, What Now Philadelphia reported on Catch 101, a new seafood concept that’s set to open in the former Stella Blu storefront at 101 Ford St in Conshohocken.
Moreover, the team is also resurrecting its local tavern concept, WestSide Bar & Grill, in the old Baggataway’s at 31 Front St.
Jasper’s Backyard quickly became a staple of the local dining circuit when it appeared on the scene back in 2016, as much for its kitchen helmed by Executive Chef Hillary Hamilton and menu of locally-sourced American comfort food as its intimate ambiance and namesake backyard. Likewise, it’s more than just a restaurant, with plenty of private spaces that locals flock to for weddings, corporate events, baby showers, and birthday parties.
