A Harrisburg favorite barbecue joint with a long and tumultuous history is getting a new permanent home. Shakedown BBQ is joining forces with Underdog Sports Bar & Grill in opening The DogHouse in Lower Paxton Township, reports local media outlet Penn Live.

The DogHouse will be located at 6791 Linglestown Road, an area that previously housed Irgo’s Tavern.

Shakedown owners Chris and Sarah Heilig are partnering with George and Jen Sgagias, who run the Underdog Sports Bars and Grills in Swatara and Lower Paxton.

Shakedown announced the new venture via a Facebook post, stating “The DogHouse will feature many of your favorites from ShakeDown BBQ, along with lots of new and exciting menu items.”

Though the social media post assured followers the restaurant will debut soon, an approximate opening date has not been announced.

The DogHouse will allow the Heiligs to not only serve up established favorites, but to expand their menu as well. Shakedown expressed marked enthusiasm for the venture, writing “We can’t wait to share this new adventure with everyone, and hope you all are as excited as we are! The plan is to keep a lot of the old while also bringing in a lot of new, so we invite you to come check out the vibes! We’re certain you’ll find yourself right at home at The DogHouse!”

The Heiligs have dedicated more than ten years to the nomadic barbecue joint. Over the years, Shakedown has operated out of a food truck, opened and closed a location in East Hanover Township, provided assistance to other restaurants, operated as a stand, and offered catering services.

While the Heilig’s barbecue will draw many visitors in, The DogHouse will feature plenty of incentives to ensure return visits. The restaurant, complete with a full bar, promises special events including open mic nights, live musical performances, and sports viewings.

Shakedown will, of course, provide plenty of delicious barbecue. The kitchen will also be preparing burgers, sandwiches, and a variety of small plates and entrees.
