A successful hospitality group has plans to expand its footprint in the Philadelphia region in 2024. PJW Restaurant Group will be opening two new P.J. Whelihan’s in the area next year, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
While CEO Jim Fris declined to disclose the precise locations of the eatery’s newest homes, he confirmed they will be opening in Delaware County and South Jersey. The leases are not yet finalized, indicating that the restaurants are still in the early phases of development.
The South Jersey location will be joining a roster of five other P.J. Whelihan’s, including spaces in Maple Shade, Medford Lakes, Cherry Hill, Washington Township, and Haddon Township.
The sports bar chain has become the driving focus of PJW, a concern that also owns the Pour House, ChopHouse, Central Taco and Tequila, and Treno Pizza Bar. The hospitality group aims to open three P.J. Whelihan’s annually in the greater Philadelphia region, including a focused target on the Delaware market. Fris states “We have an aggressive growth plan for Delaware, and we believe that it’s going to come to fruition after many years of trying.”
P.J. Whelihan’s first opened its doors in Haddon Township in 1983. Guests can enjoy high-quality versions of their favorite bar foods, including wings, nachos, fries, burgers, and salads. In addition to a wide range of beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, P.J. Whelihan’s offers an array of signature cocktails.
