Shaka Donuts recently closed their doors and covered their windows amid an extensive renovation, Bungalower reported. The concept has been closed for a week or two, said Brandon Cipollone, who is the husband of Brittany Cipollone. They are expected to have the doors open in a couple of weeks.

Cipollone said his wife also owns Shaka Ice right beside the donut shop, and that they are removing the wall between the donut and ice cream shop. Previously, the ice cream shop was simply an outside walk-up window. Once the concept re-opens, the two stores will be combined. Other developments will include beer taps, coffee from Foxtail Coffee Company and dinner options. “We’re making the place a little more than just a donut shop,” Cipollone said.

The company will also be partnering with other brands in the new outfit, but details about which brands, aside from Foxtail, are unknown.

Lookout for the Shaka crew to reopen around mid-April at their usual address: 225 E Michigan Street.
