First Watch, a far-reaching breakfast and lunch chain, is preparing to build a new location in Cooper City. Early on in the planning process, a spokesperson for the company confirmed with What Now Miami that they are currently acquiring permits to build a new freestanding unit at 3900 N University Drive

Cooper City still has quite a wait before residents can grab breakfast at this location. Per the First Watch spokesperson, the unit isn’t expected to open until Q1 of 2023. However, there are 10 open locations in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale area to keep the community satiated during construction, according to the First Watch website

The majority of First Watch restaurants are corporate-owned, which is the case for this location. The brand has been expanding throughout central Florida as well, which we covered here

The breakfast, brunch, and lunch chain derives their name from the nautical term “First Watch,” meaning the first shift of the day.

A plan review for new construction filed in December 2021 has been approved with provisions.
