Mesquite Fresh Street Mex, the local Mexican restaurant with sites across Phoenix, is preparing to open a new location in Leveen at 7601 S 56th Ave.

The company’s 11th location will be moving into a vacant lot near the Estrella Mountain Village sometime this year, according to the company’s website. Owner Naser and Ahmad Alatrash are currently working on opening a new location in Tolleson, which is expected to open in April 2023. The brothers clearly have no intentions of slowing down their expansion throughout Phoenix. It’s unclear if this location will feature a drive-thru, a concept the brand unveiled last year with its new Gilbert store.

When the new Mesquite opens, it will be perfectly situated between the Laveen Spectrum shopping center and Laveen Village Marketplace. The latter features a handful of other Mexican restaurants, both chain and independent, ranging from Taco Bell to El Gran Taquito Mexican Grill. Fortunately for Mesquite, the only immediate competition nearby will come from El Taco Loco Food Truck. The restaurant is also expected to receive a large amount of food traffic from The Spurr Lounge next door.

Mesquite offers authentic yet modern Mexican food cooked over an open flame on real mesquite wood, creating a true “street” flavor and authentic Mexican experience. Phoenix New Times has even recognized the restaurant for having the best tortillas and street tacos in town. When the new Laveen location opens, customers can expect award-winning Street Tacos, Killer Burritos, Packed Bowls, and Big Quesadillas with the freshest meats.
