I scream, you scream, Ardmore screams for ice cream. Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, a Brooklyn-based company known for its lauded vanilla scoop, is opening a new location in the region, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The popular sweet shop will be opening its largest Philly area storefront to date at 85 Coulter Avenue. The 1,600 square foot space has a history of providing delicious indulgences; it previously housed Kilwins. Van Leeuwen is hoping to open its Ardmore location in time for spring; the concept is aiming to begin greeting guests in March. The eatery will have space for between 15 and 20 customers.
Ben Van Leeuwen, the ice creamery’s CEO, explains that Ardmore provides a desirable demographic of future patrons. Additionally, the neighborhood will place Van Leeuwen strategically in the community. Van Leeuwen states: “For us, it’s so important to be surrounded by other businesses that generate foot traffic, because oftentimes ice cream isn’t the primary purpose of anybody’s trip.”
The Ardmore Van Leeuwen will be the concept’s fifth Philadelphia area shop. The neighborhood is welcoming the company at an ideal time; Van Leeuwen will be debuting chocolate chip cookies at all of its storefronts in March.
