According to Richmondside, fried chicken chain Pollo Campero is expanding its Bay Area footprint, “planning to open at least 25 new U.S. restaurants by the end of this year, growing to a total of 250 locations by 2028.”

“Pollo Campero wants to give locals the opportunity to enjoy Campero’s internationally famous fried and citrus-grilled chicken made from family recipes passed down from generation to generation,” a spokesperson with Pollo Campero shares with Richmondside.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the Guatemalan-born chain, Pollo Campero “is a nostalgic favorite for many Guatemalans and Salvadorans who’ve moved stateside, some of whom are fanatical enough about the food to bring boxes of chicken to the United States for family members, as the Los Angeles Times reported in 2021,” shares Eater.

In addition to fried chicken, the menu boasts salads, empanadas, nuggets, and sides including mac & cheese, beans, and coleslaw.
