Conway Diner has filed for a liquor license at 80 Second Avenue in East Village, with plans to open in the location formerly home to Sunday Dreamin’, which closed for renovations in the fall and has not reopened since.
The brand got its start as a fast-casual concept in New World Mall’s food court in Flushing.
“We closed it down for about a year or 2 now to give ourselves a break before going back into the food industry. Then we found this spot!” the Conway Diner team shared in an email. “Our dream is to build a successful restaurant where we can expand it out to create multiple stores to bring positive vibes and energy to our surrounding neighbors.”
The Conway Diner is expected to serve traditional American fare alongside beer, wine, coffee and tea. Food offerings will include items like pastas and hamburgers.
The team shared that they make almost everything in-house, including their coffee, which is an original blend. They describe the interior as “a laid-back, vibrant vibe.”
“It’s the kind of spot that feels cozy yet lively, perfect for a relaxed brunch with friends or a casual weekend outing,” the team said in the email. “The atmosphere includes bright decor and a welcoming, upbeat energy. Think trendy yet comfortable — like somewhere you’d want to linger over your meal while soaking in the chill, positive energy.”
The proposed hours for the location are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, according to filed paperwork. Plans indicate that there will be 19 tables that will seat 38.
The team shared that they expect to open the spot this winter.
