New York-based taco chain Los Tacos No. 1 has a couple locations in the pipeline, slated to open later this year, co-owner Christian Pineda shared with What Now New York.
The two locations will open after the eighth location heading to the Financial District this winter, as previously reported by What Now New York. The ninth location will be in Union Square between 18th St. and Park Ave. The tenth location is expected to open on 23rd St. between Madison Ave. and Park Ave.
The brand, inspired by the authentic tacos found in Tijuana, has been slowly expanding in the city since 2013, when Pineda launched Los Tacos No. 1 with Tyler Sanders and Kyle Cameron. The menu features tacos, tostadas, quesadillas and mulas.
Eventually, Pineda expects Los Tacos No. 1 to expand to 15 locations in the city and then continue growth beyond New York.
Pineda said he expects the team to open the ninth and tenth location in summer or fall of 2025.
“Our growth has been a bit slow. We like slow. It’s been an organic growth,” Pineda previously told What Now New York. “We’re extremely grateful to everyone who has supported us for almost 12 years. We love our New Yorkers. We try our best every day, and it’s great to see the smiles when people are eating our tacos and the reviews we get. We’re incredibly blessed.”
