Golden Chick, a quick-serve restaurant known for its fried chicken, is expanding in central Texas — planning to build a new location in Manor’s Manor Commons.

Records examined by What Now Austin disclose that construction of the 2,052-square-foot restaurant will begin this May and be completed in December 2025. For an estimated $750,000,  construction will consist of a “new ground up restaurant.”

Since Golden Chick, formerly known as Golden Fried Chicken, was opened by Howard and Jacque Walker in San Marcos in 1967, it has become “one of the fastest growing restaurant brands in the U.S. and was recognized as one of the very top brands in the country by Nation’s Restaurant News,” according to the eatery’s website.

On the menu, patrons can expect to find fried chicken, breaded chicken tenders served with gravy for dipping, warm yeast rolls, and sweet tea to wash it all down.
