Award-winning restaurant group signs lease inside the historic Carrington Building, built in 1872. According to a company announcement, Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group has signed a lease at Old 6th, part of the ongoing redevelopment of one of downtown Austin’s most historic corridors.

The group will open a new restaurant at 520 E. Sixth St. in fall 2027, inside the Carrington Building, near the corner of Red River Street.

Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group is led by partners Kevin Fink, Tavel Bristol-Joseph, Alicynn Fink, and Rand Egbert. The group’s Austin portfolio includes Emmer & Rye, Hestia, Canje, Kalimotxo, and Ezov, while its San Antonio portfolio includes Ladino, Henbit, and Pullman Market.

“We’re looking forward to the future of downtown Austin and the next chapter of Old 6th,” said Bristol-Joseph, partner and COO of the group. “Austin has played such an important role in our story, and we are excited to continue to grow alongside the city.”

The Old 6th signing follows the group’s first expansion outside Austin and San Antonio. What Now Houston reported on a new concept the group opened at Autry Park, taking over a circular retail pod previously occupied by MF Lobster.

Bristol-Joseph told What Now Houston at the time that the group had “had our eye on Houston, and specifically Autry Park, for quite some time.”

“Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group has played a vital role in shaping Austin’s culinary identity, and we are ecstatic to welcome them to Old 6th,” said Stream Realty Senior Vice President Paul Bodenman, the group leading the preservation and redevelopment of Old 6th, the historic core of Downtown Austin.
