What Now Denver reached out to CEO and Co-Founder Matthew de Gruyter for comment regarding the company’s Colorado plans, but did not receive immediate feedback. What is known, however, is that Next Level Burger most recently opened a stand-alone flagship restaurant in Denver. According to multiple reports, NLB will announce additional locations soon.
The Oregon-bred company was founded in 2014 by husband and wife Matt and Cierra de Gruyter. The two were, and remain, on a mission to “do right.” For the dynamic duo, that means sourcing organic, using non-GMO foods, paying its employees a living wage, and committing to sustainability for the good of the planet.
“From NLB’s beginnings, we’ve set out to open 1,000 stores from coast to coast and this is the next chapter of that story,” Matt explained in a recent press release. “We’re bringing that plant-based, organic, and non-GMO burger joint awesomeness our guests expect from us to new cities and parts of the country, all while doing good for people and the planet.”
Currently, NLB has locations in Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado, Texas, and New York with plans to open more stores along the West Coast as well as in the Southwest and Northeast.
Matt also explained that he and his team will not “be forced to compromise [their] value set in the process of growing.” He went on, “We retain the keys to the kingdom and control as much as any of us can control anything in this uncontrollable world.”
