Coffee, community and a bigger purpose are coming to Colfax as Convict Coffee prepares to open its third Denver shop.
According to a city filing, the new location is planned for 2260 E. Colfax Avenue, and Convict Coffee’s website lists the shop as coming soon.
The new location will feature indoor seating and a patio, with the company describing it as a place for slow mornings, music and time spent with friends. It will be the third Convict Coffee location in the Denver area. The company’s current Denver shop is on Evans Avenue, while its original location is in Parker.
But the business is about more than coffee. Convict Coffee was founded in Parker in 2024 by Dan Klehm and his family with a mission centered on giving people second chances and supporting efforts to reduce recidivism.
The company says it supports programs that help keep young people out of trouble and help formerly incarcerated people avoid returning to prison. It also aims to create opportunities for rehabilitated offenders.
That mission is tied directly to the business. Convict Coffee says more than $150,000 has been raised toward its recidivism-reduction efforts since the company launched in April 2024.
The coffee company has built its identity around specialty coffee, a lively atmosphere and community. Its Denver-Evans shop, for example, combines coffee with a bar-like setting, games, events and a strong local focus.
The Colfax location is expected to continue that approach while bringing Convict Coffee to another part of Denver. An official opening date is yet to be announced.
