Colorado Creole Café is the latest culinary adventure from Chef Donald “Chef James” James. To be located at 9668 E Arapahoe Rd in Greenwood Village, the concept will bring an underserved cuisine to the area.

This new restaurant blends the soul of Creole cooking with Colorado’s fresh, local ingredients. Standout items on the menu, as listed on the still-under-development website, include the Muffaletta sandwich, Colorado-raised bison and lamb, grilled catfish Po’boy, shrimp and grits, and chicken and sausage gumbo.

Chef Donald James’ time at The Grubbery, 8-Rivers LoDo, and Peoria Bar and Grill in the Timbers Hotel allowed him to learn from renowned chefs like Chef Joseph Westley, Chef Meko Anty, and Chef Keith Jones. He opened Mile High Pit Stop BBQ, a food truck and catering business, in 2003.

That business specializes in hickory, mesquite, and peach-smoked meats, including pulled pork, BBQ ribs, and brisket. The concept has become a favorite at local festivals such as Juneteenth, the Five Points Jazz Festival, and the Colorado Black Arts Festival.
