Jackalope Brewing Co., which has a taproom and brewery at 429B Houston St., is now under new ownership, according to a release by Jackalope Brewing.

Tacoma and Hoyt LLC, a Tennessee-based investment firm, has acquired the brewery. The firm is expected to lead the Wedgewood-Houston brewery and taproom into a new era of expansion.

Steve Barone, CEO of Tacoma and Hoyt LLC, will now become CEO of Jackalope.

“Jackalope Brewing Company is poised to embark on an exciting era while maintaining the spirit, quality and creativity that have defined the brewery since its inception,” the release on the Jackalope website states. “Barone, now CEO of Jackalope, brings his extensive business acumen and passion for craft beer to the helm, ensuring the brewery remains competitive and thrives in the evolving craft beer market.”

Barone was previously the CEO of CBI, a Detroit-based cybersecurity solutions company that he founded in 1991. He eventually sold that company in 2022.

“We are incredibly excited to collaborate with Bailey and Steve [Wright] to elevate Jackalope to new heights,” Barone said in the release. “Our commitment is to preserve the rich legacy of Jackalope while focusing on strategic growth and ensuring that the Jackalope brand continues to thrive in the communities we serve and across the broader craft beer industry.”

Jackalope founder Bailey Spaulding will continue at the company as the chief beer officer, and the Jackalope president Steve Wright will transition to chief revenue officer.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this next phase of Jackalope’s journey,” Spaulding said in the release. “This acquisition allows me to focus even more on the beer. I look forward to working alongside Steve [Barone] to build on Jackalope’s legacy while continuing to craft beers that our customers love.”

The brewery serves a variety of beers as well as some bar snacks such as pretzel and charcuterie plates.
