Mike’s Tavern is moving closer to bringing its tavern-style dining experience to Ooltewah, although additional time is needed before construction can begin at its upcoming location at 5024 Hunter Road. The restaurant shared the latest development update in a recent Instagram post, explaining that engineering work is still underway before the project can advance to the city approval stage.

The restaurant’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) drawings are currently being finalized by its engineering team. According to the Instagram update, the process has taken longer than initially expected, partly due to the substantial growth taking place throughout the Chattanooga area. Once completed, the documents will be submitted to the City of Chattanooga for review and approval, marking the next step toward getting the restaurant ready for construction.

Mike’s Tavern estimates that construction will take approximately two and a half months after the required plans receive approval. However, the restaurant has not announced a confirmed opening date, and the timeline will depend on the review and approval process.

The Ooltewah restaurant will extend the presence of the Chattanooga-based dining concept beyond its existing Hixson location at 5211 Highway 153, Suite 103. The restaurant’s website describes its approach as traditional tavern fare with Southern culinary influences, complemented by a full bar featuring beer, wine and specialty cocktails.

Its existing menu includes artisan burgers, seafood, salads and other tavern favorites, while weekend brunch adds another part of the dining experience. The Ooltewah opening will give residents another opportunity to experience the concept closer to home.

Although the extended preparation period has pushed the project beyond its original expectations, the restaurant expressed enthusiasm about joining the Ooltewah community and thanked local supporters for their patience as the work continues.
