According to real estate data acquired by What Now Los Angeles, Birria Superior will launch a brick-and-mortar location at 44140 20th Street West in Lancaster. The birria-centric taqueria will replace what had formerly been Cali Cafe, which closed its doors in April after 16 years of service.
Birria Superior is the latest restaurant concept from the family-owned company behind Tacos El Superior, which has locations in Palmdale, Lancaster, and Tehachapi with another planned for Azusa.
Birria Superior will be the first-ever birria drive-thru in the world. During the pandemic, the taqueria served its irresistible birria tacos from a pop-up spot at 41520 10th Street West in Palmdale, where it garnered a large group of devoted regulars.
Birria Superior offers out-of-this-world birria tacos, quesatacos, burritos (rice, beans and birria wrapped in a consome-drenched flour tortilla), sandwiches (toasted bolillo stuffed with birria and cheese), and tostadas (toasted tortilla topped with beans and shredded birria), and quesadillas.
Although an official debut date has not been announced, a post on the restaurant’s Instagram promises its fans that Birria Superior in Lancaster is “coming soon.” Birria Superior will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
