Celebrated Chef David Gussin, owner of the acclaimed catering company Food First Events and former executive chef at STK, Fig & Olive, and Cleo, proudly announces his newest venture: Prose, opening in Woodland Hills at 21150 Ventura Boulevard.

This 80+ seat restaurant marks Gussin’s first brick-and-mortar, bringing elevated yet approachable California cuisine to the Valley’s rapidly evolving culinary landscape, according to a press release. Prose features a thoughtfully designed 60+ seat dining room and an expansive outdoor patio. The all-season patio, equipped with heat lamps and cooling misters, seats an additional 30 guests and captures the essence of Southern California’s indoor-outdoor living.

“Prose represents the natural evolution of California cuisine,” David Gussin said in a press release. “We’re creating dishes that honor our incredible local ingredients while introducing unexpected global influences. Each plate tells its own story.”

The opening menu showcases Gussin’s distinctive culinary style with standout dishes, including Citrus Cured Hamachi with coconut leche de tigre, Black Garlic Charred Octopus with aji amarillo glaze, and a show-stopping Slow-Braised Lamb Shank with Medjool date- pomegranate sauce. House-made pasta and prime cuts, such as a dramatic 34-oz Tomahawk Ribeye, round out the offerings.

Also debuting is the “Olivia Burger,” a savory creation named after the couple’s burger-loving two-year-old daughter. House-made pasta and prime cuts, such as a dramatic 34-oz Tomahawk Ribeye, round out the offerings.

The beverage program debuts with a curated selection of wines from established and emerging producers, craft beers, and an innovative non-alcoholic cocktail menu. Signature drinks include the ‘Valley Sunset,’ served under a dome of captured rosemary smoke that releases tableside, revealing layers of house-made passion fruit syrup and fresh citrus. Prose plans to expand to a full bar in fall 2025.

The Restaurant’s sophisticated interior design combines caramel-colored ostrich leather seats, warm wood accents, and rich jewel tones to create a refined and inviting atmosphere. Molly Gussin, co-owner of Prose, tells What Now Los Angeles that the Restaurant is expected to open on February 26. Reservations are available starting February 1.

“At Prose, we’ve designed a space that feels just as perfect for celebrating special occasions as it does for enjoying a casual weeknight dinner,” says Molly Gussin.
