The Atlanta-based sweet shop, Honeysuckle Gelato, is getting ready to open a new location in Charlotte, this time in Ballantyne at 15119 Bowl Street, Suite 102.

The company’s seventh site is one of many new tenants coming to the upcoming Bowl at Ballantyne development, according to the Charlotte Observer. The new 808-square-foot location is expected to open in Spring 2024, joining several other businesses coming to the project, including Rooster’s Wood-Fired Kitchen, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, Summit Coffee, First Watch, and Drybar. Honeysuckle Gelato has four locations split between Georgia and North Carolina. The company made its Charlotte debut in 2019 in Optimist Hall.

This is a massive accomplishment for the company, which started as a food truck in 2011 under Jackson Smith, Wes Jones, and Khatera Ballard. Honeysuckle Gelato is also working on new locations in Atlanta and Savannah, both expected to open in Summer 2023. When these new locations open, customers can expect plenty of delicious gelato options, such as Butter Pecan Blondie, Lemon Raspberry Crumble, and Salted Caramel Brownie. If the delicious flavors aren’t enough to try the gelato shop, it’s worth noting the company donates to national charities with every purchase.

“As part of our mission, we proudly partner with Feeding America Network food banks to donate 5% of companywide profits,” according to the company’s website. “As of Spring 2022, Honeysuckle Gelato has donated enough to provide over 650,000 meals (almost 800,000 pounds of food!) to our partner food banks in the Feeding America network. Additionally, Honeysuckle Gelato provides in-kind donations and volunteer opportunities to our partner food banks and other organizations.”
