Nine months after closing its doors in Plaza Midwood, Soul Gastrolounge has found a new location in the upcoming development in NoDa at 4100 Raleigh St.
The new 6,400 square-foot restaurant will sit on the ground floor of the upcoming development called The Pass, expected to open its first phase in Fall 2023, according to Charlotte Business Journal. The new Soul Gastrolounge will be triple the size of the original, with space for a large outdoor patio. Co-owners Andy and Lesa Kastanas have tried five times to find a space and will finally land in the upcoming 260,000-square-foot mixed-use development by Third & Urban.
“We continue to be so grateful for and touched by how much this community has loved us through this,” Andy Kastanas tells the Business Journal. “The outpouring has sustained us and fueled our resolve to return.”
When the restaurant makes its grand return towards the end of the year, customers can expect a variety of small plates, sushi, and handcrafted cocktails. Some items on the menu include skewers, sandwiches, and tapas, such as Asian glazed pork belly tacos, Korean BBQ wings, and fried Brussels sprouts. While the owners tried several times to find a perfect location, it continued its operations through its food truck around Charlotte
“Soul is the right restaurant to anchor the first phase of retail here, and we look forward to filling the surrounding space with other like-minded operators,” Hank Farmer, managing partner at Third & Urban, tells the Business Journal.
