The owners of Red Rocks Cafe are looking into expanding into more locations in the greater Charlotte area shortly after completing renovations of an existing site.

Co-owners Ron Herbert and John Love recently completed an $800,000 project to refresh its Birkdale Village location at 8712 Lindholm Drive, only having to close the restaurant for five days last month. The upscale-casual restaurant signed a 10-year lease extension about a year ago, according to Charlotte Business Journal. Owners are now looking to expand to more locations, including South End and Ballantyne.

Herbert tells What Now Charlotte that the company is actively searching for new sites to open more Red Rocks Cafes. Herbert says the company found a few potential sites, but those have fallen through due to the high saturation of new restaurants in the area. He’s hoping this trend will eventually settle down, and he will find the perfect spot to expand Red Rocks Cafe. Residents can get an idea as to what to expect at these new sites by visiting the recently renovated Birkdale Village site.

While the restaurant ran into supply-chain issues, forcing the company to renovate in pieces rather than all at once, it worked in favor of operations. Now that the restaurant is open, guests will notice a more modern feel with nanowalls, creating an indoor-outdoor vibe. The owners have opened up the bar with a new backsplash and antique-style mirrors and added a new 700-bottle wine chiller. The final piece of the renovation plan, which began this week, includes the installation of $250,000 in awnings.
