A St. Augustine staple is finally branching out—and North Florida is not getting just one more but “DOS” servings of locally brewed coffee.
After almost a decade, DOS Coffee & Wine has finally started expanding its locations (not including its sister location, Relampago Coffee Lab, located on St. George Street). The beloved coffee shop will be opening one new shop in its home city of St. Augustine, on State Road 16 near the Outlets, and another in Jacksonville’s Town Center.
DOS Coffee & Wine’s original location has seen success as a community hub. According to owner Julie Stoppelli, the transformation has been slow and steady.
“I think if you have been to our flagship store, DOS Coffee & Wine in St. Augustine, it’s safe to say you have experienced a special place,” Stoppeilli said in an interview with What Now Jacksonville. “I don’t think we could ever really recreate DOS. It has grown and evolved so much over the years, and it’s jaw-dropping.”
DOS Coffee & Wine has been known for its relaxed atmosphere, community-centric and local offerings, natural wine, as well as excellent food and coffee. The shop serves its own “Relampago” (meaning lightning in Spanish) roasting brand.
While there is no “recreating” the magic of the original DOS, Stoppelli said she has gone through pains to curate the locations and make each new shop its own. Which includes the Town Center location in Jacksonville partnering with locally owned Mayday Ice cream to share its space.
“… Our two new stores will each have their own individual vibe and uniqueness based on location and size,” Stoppelli said. “I’m sure to some degree you’ll always see at least a little bit of the original DOS in every location. And, obviously, really great coffee will always be served!”
Stoppelli said she hopes for both locations to open right before the New Year.
DOS Coffee & Wine in St. Augustine will be located at 2375 State Road 16, and DOS Coffee & Wine in Jacksonville will be located at 4853 Big Island Drive.
