Jacksonville Golf & Country Club, a private, member-owned country club, is moving forward with a $30 million renovation at 3985 Hunt Club Road in Jacksonville.

The project, called “Blueprint for Tomorrow,” recently secured two construction permits totaling $7.3 million, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal. The city issued a $4.8 million permit for a new wellness club building on October 29, and a $2.5 million permit for a new bar and grill on November 3. The first phase will also include a new aquatics complex, dining facilities, a pool, and a bar-and-grill.

The new wellness center will include cardio and strength-training areas, group exercise rooms, a spin studio, locker rooms, and spa facilities. The pool complex will feature lap lanes, a children’s area, zero-entry access, and shaded cabanas. Plans also call for a tennis viewing terrace as part of the improvements.

The club plans to fund the $30 million renovation through assessments on current and incoming members, with multiple payment options available. The club also announced that its golf initiation fee would increase to $35,000, effective July 1, 2025. These improvements are part of a broader investment in the club’s facilities and recreational offerings.

Beyond the new buildings and amenities, golf course architect Andy Staples will lead a comprehensive redesign of the existing 18-hole course. Planned improvements include rebuilding greens, bunkers, tees, and fairways, along with drainage and irrigation upgrades. Golf course construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027 and wrap up in the third quarter of 2028.

Founded in 1989, Jacksonville Golf & Country Club has a history dating back to the acquisition of 732 acres in June 1987. Golf course architect Clyde Johnston originally designed the club’s course, with player consultant Fuzzy Zoeller. Today, the club has just under 800 members and offers four dining venues, including the Fairway Dining Room, Mulligan’s Adult Bar, Alki’s Down Under Cafe, and the Poolside Snack Shack.
