The fast-growing all-day restaurant 1928 Cuban Bistro is getting ready to open its newest location in Fleming Island at 1831 Golden Eagle Way, Unit 29.
Owner Rebecca Gonzalez registered the company’s sixth location earlier this month to move into the former home of Yianni’s Kitchen, according to Jacksonville Daily Record. Gonzalez expects to open this new Clay County site by the end of the year, “if not, definitely by January.” The company’s new location will be in the Village Square business center. The bistro will offer “cafecito,” tropical vibes, and Cuban flavors throughout the menu.
Some of the favorites found on the menu include The Cuban, Pan con Lechon, and more. Other food options include empanadas, sides and soup, delicious wraps, salads, and desserts such as churros, flan, and bunuelos. The Bistro also offers. handful of Cuban patries. As for drinks, 1928 Cuban Bistro offers a variety of Cuban coffees, tea, and other beverages.
Gonzalez first opened 1928 Cuban Bistro at 3928 Baymeadows Road and has since expanded to Saint Johns, Ortega, Jacksonville Beach, and most recently Fernandina Beach. She named the restaurant in honor of her grandparents, Mario and Pura Alvarado. Her grandfather, born in 1928, immigrated from Cuba in 1961 for refuge from communism. The company’s website says he dedicated his life to achieving the “American Dream” for his three daughters to ensure the success.
