According to the Boston Business Journal, Jacob Wirth Restaurant is currently undergoing a massive renovation and is hoping to officially reopen at some point early 2024.

Founded in 1868, Jacob Wirth was a German American restaurant that was counted as the second oldest operating restaurant in the Greater Boston metro when it closed its doors in 2018. The iconic Theater District destination is located at 31-37 Stuart Street and City Realty Group is leading the charge in giving the historic establishment another life.

Jacob Wirth Restaurant’s previous menu was filled to the brim with German classics including schnitzels and wursts, as well as stacked with a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches.

Earlier this year, Fred Starikov and Julius Sokol of Greater Boston Bar Co. purchased the building and pursued licensing with the hopes to repoen the Jacob Wirth without any changes. What Now Boston has connected with Sokol for official comment regarding renovation specifics and a confirmed opening timeline.
