The restaurant community around US-301 between Dixon Drive and Summerfield Crossing Boulevard appears to be welcoming one of Florida’s first MilkShake Factory locations. Founded in Pittsburgh, the milkshake chain has expanded throughout the state of Pennsylvania, and now it’s expanding nationwide, with plans for a Florida location already announced for Panama City Beach, and another in the works for 10446 Stelling Dr. in Riverview.

Describing the brand as “A Legacy of Chocolatiers,” the MilkShake Factory website tells the long story leading to the brand as it exists today:

“Our family has been making premium chocolates since 1914. From signature salted caramels, decadent terrapins and a wide variety of chocolate barks, you will find an assortment of freshly-made chcolates to enjoy, share, or give as gifts.”

The story leads through years of chocolatiership and soda fountain owernership to the founding family’s “Fourth Generation of Chocolatiers”:

“More than a century from its soda fountain days, MilkShake Factory was coined as a result of one of Dana’s college business projects. The fourth generation took over the business and established a menu that blended high quality ingredients and imagination, which boasted a variety of inventive shake flavors. And of course, still included chocolates.”

The menu includes Signature Shake varieties like Campfire S’Mores, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry, Chocolatier, and Cookie Jar. Gourmet Milkshakes including flavors like Bananas Foster, Caramel Toffee Cappuccino, and Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.
