Doki Doki BBQ, a new Asian-style barbecue restaurant, will be opening soon in Northeast D.C., as a part of Doki Doki Group, one of the latest projects co-led by Vietnamese American restaurateur Kevin Tien.

Tien will be partnering with chef Judy Beltrano, his fellow from Louisiana Alan Vo, and Susan Bae, who worked as a pastry chef at his Vietnamese Moon Rabbit restaurant which permanently closed last month, according to Axios.

“I’ve learned the best people to partner with are the people who’ve been with you in the kitchen, in the restaurant,” Tien told the news website.

Doki Doki BBQ will open this summer at the new Bryant Street Food Market at 670 Rhode Island Ave. SE. The restaurant is expected to serve smoked and grilled meats, along with side dishes such as crawfish mac and passion fruit-mezcal Ranch Water.

Tien also plans to open a maki counter concept called Doki Doki Sushi, which will also open this summer at the upcoming food hall The Heights, which is located in Maryland. The new restaurant will serve Vietnamese and Filipino cooked rolls.
