PLANTA, the plant-based restaurant group with locations across Canada and the U.S., Friday announced its forthcoming Logan Circle outpost, at 1460 P St NW, will debut in December 2023. The company this year debuted its first DC PLANTA with an outpost in the West End, at 1200 New Hampshire Ave NW.

PLANTA’s national real estate advisors, Alex Yanoff and Taryn Brandes of Brand Urban, represented the tenant in the leases transactions as the company’s master broker, alongside Kim Stein and Jenn Price of KLNB, Brand Urban and PLANTA’s local broker partners in the region, according to a press release Friday.

Bentall Greenoak, the landlord for the West End location, was represented by Bill Dickinson of Rappaport Management Co. The landlord for the upcoming Logan Circle location is SJG Properties and the landlord’s broker is John Asadoorian.

“PLANTA’s allure goes beyond its culinary excellence and stylish restaurant design. The restaurant is bringing a fresh new energy and untapped cuisine category to these markets,” Taryn Brandes, founder of Brand Urban, said in the release. “We positioned the brand in Washington D.C.’s West End neighborhood, strategically located by George Washington University, excellent hotel and daytime density, and a sophisticated residential population that has been underserved in polished, modern, yet approachable dining options. We are equally excited to witness the success of our Logan Circle location which will open this fall, as this is an opportunity for PLANTA to tap into the energy on and off 14th Street. The young, vibrant residential demographic is PLANTA’s core customer, prioritizing a lifestyle around health, wellness, entertainment, and new dining experiences.”

Founded in 2016 by Co-Founders Steven Salm and Chef David Lee, PLANTA is “on a mission to expand the accessibility and acceptability of plant-based dining as well as prioritize sustainability throughout every facet of the business — from its minimal waste menu to composting in every location,” according to the release. Since then, the company has rapidly expanded to 12 restaurant locations between Bethesda, Chicago, New York City, Miami, Washington D.C., and Toronto. Later this year, the brand is set to open doors in Atlanta with two locations in Krog Street Market and Buckhead Village as well as a new addition to its New York City portfolio.
