Bakery-café files permit for new location at 12th & Midtown.

Panera Bread is moving forward with plans to open a location at 1010 Midtown in the 12th & Midtown development.

The bakery-cafe submitted a building permit application with City of Atlanta Thursday for its Midtown location after issuing an announcement in February.

An estimated $1,026,000 will be spent building out the 5,412-square-foot Panera Bread and its patio, according to the permit.

The new café will offer the same amenities people would expect from Panera with the addition of a prominent European-styled outdoor café.

There are 30 Panera Bread bakery-cafés in the Atlanta market. Panera Bread at 12th & Midtown will be the first “urban inspired” bakery-café in Atlanta.

Panera Bread will join STK, Cucina Asellina, Ri Ra Irish Pub, RA Sushi, Mi Cocina and Piola, with Café Intermezzo, Taco Diner and Tabla also set to open in 2013, at 12th & Midtown.
