DC residents hungry for the tastes of the Mediterranean will be able to start 2024 with the flavors of Greece. Greco Truly Greek, a popular Boston-based fast-casual Greek concept, will be opening in Georgetown early next year, reports local media outlet PoPville.
The Mediterranean eatery will begin greeting guests at 1335 Wisconsin Avenue NW on January 15, 2024. Greco is taking over the space that formerly housed such DC institutions as &Pizza, Five Guys, and Au Pied de Cochon. Signage has been placed in the Georgetown building.
The Georgetown Greco location will be the fast-casual chain’s introduction to the DC area. The brand will follow it with a location at 1285 4th Street, NE Unit B. This Union Market restaurant has not yet announced an opening date.
Greco Truly Greek is the brainchild of Demetri Tsolakis. The restaurateur opened his first Greco in Boston in 2017 with the aim of providing local university students with an affordable and delicious Mediterranean option. The chain focuses on crafting authentic Greek fare, versus the Americanized version of the cuisine more frequently found stateside.
DC residents eager to sample Greco’s dishes can look forward to enjoying pitas, salads, souvlaki, and loukoumades.
