A popular taco establishment is mounting a triumphant comeback in DC later this year. Taco Bamba is reopening its Chinatown location for the first time since 2020, reports local media outlet The List: Are You On It?

The restaurant, located at 777 I Street NW, hopes to be serving customers again by summer of 2024. Taco Bamba initially shut down the Chinatown eatery because of pandemic related complications.

While the restaurant will be occupying the same building as before, the space will be undergoing an overhaul. Taco Bamba will be taking over the entire unit, making the spot the chain’s largest location to date. The restaurant will offer al fresco dining on an outdoor patio, as well as the requisite indoor seating. Fans will be able to rent out designated spaces for private events and parties.

Taco Bamba opened its first eatery in Falls Church in 2013. Since first opening its doors a decade ago, the chain has expanded to include 16 restaurants spread across Virginia, DC, Maryland, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Every Taco Bamba offers menus curated to the neighborhood where each individual restaurant resides. However, customers can anticipate variations on tacos, quesadillas, and bowls. The Chinatown location will feature local artwork commissioned for the restaurant.
