A Bethesda shopping center will soon be one of Bethesda’s hottest tickets for locals hungry for delicious Japanese cuisine. Kusshi Sushi is increasing its stranglehold on the area, with a new location planned for the Shops at Sumner Place, reports local journalist Robert Dyer.
Kusshi Sushi is slated to take over the 4611 Sangamore Road storefront that housed Passion Fin for more than a decade. Kusshi Sushi managing partner Tony Chow kindly spoke to What Now DC about the new location, saying: “We’re excited about the Sumner Place location because it’s a well-established neighborhood center serving the surrounding Bethesda and nearby Northwest D.C. communities. Kusshi will be a great fit for the area and we look forward to becoming part of the neighborhood.”
While a precise opening date is not yet available, Chow states that the team anticipates opening in January of 2027.
Bethesda is homebase for Kusshi Sushi; the concept opened its first location in downtown Bethesda in 2016. The restaurant, which specializes in modern Japanese cuisine, now has several locations open across the DMV, with storefronts in Virginia, DC, and Maryland
Kusshi Sushi features an eclectic menu of sushi and bento boxes. The eatery also offers a range of specialty cocktails and mocktails, alongside more conventional beverage options, to help visitors wash down their meals.
