A bright burst of Cuban culture and cuisine will help bring life to an up-and-coming mixed-use neighborhood in 2024. The Colada Shop will be opening in the developing National Landing community this summer, reports local media outlet The List: Are You On It?
The eatery is in the early phases of development and has not yet announced an official address. The unique eatery will join Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Bar Chinois, and other restaurants yet to be announced in National Landing, an entertainment district located across the river from Washington, D.C.
Developers JBG Smith describe the growing community as “the capital region’s premier mixed-use urban community and the largest walkable downtown in Virginia.”
Founded by Daniella Senior in 2016, the Colada Shop strives to bring the flavors and ambiance of Cuba to the D.C. area. The Colada Shop website describes its mission statement as “committed to providing outstanding Caribbean experiences to our guests. As unique as we are individually, we are united by our mutual passion for great food, superb coffee, and vibrant beverages.”
The National Landing shop will be the growing eatery’s seventh location. Future patrons can look forward to enjoying an impressive range of hot beverages, ranging from Cafe Cubano to Chocolate de la Abuela. Hungry guests can feast on empanadas, bowls, calderos, and a variety of sandwiches. The shop will offer meat-free options for its vegetarian customers, and early risers will be able to enjoy several breakfast dishes.
