Miss Kim, the beloved Ann Arbor Korean restaurant by James Beard Award Best Chef semifinalist Ji Hye Kim, is opening a new grab-and-go extension a couple of doors down at 407 N Fifth Ave. The new restaurant is called Little Kim and will be “an Asian inspired, grab-and-go style restaurant” with “delicious vegetarian and vegan cuisine,” according to the chef’s Instagram announcement. According to The Michigander, Little Kim is anticipated to open in 2025 in the old Eat location in the Kerrytown courtyard.

Seoul-born, Ann Arbor-based chef Kim opened the award-winning Miss Kim restaurant in 2016. The restaurant was named by The Eater as one of Ann Arbor’s “Most Essential Restaurants” and features a seasonal menu inspired by traditional Korean cooking while incorporating Midwestern elements. In addition to her culinary talent, Chef Kim is also known for her dedication to fair wages, employee benefits, and equity in the hospitality industry.

The space at 407 N 5th St was previously occupied by local restaurant Eat, which opened its Kerrytown location during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to Eat, the space was occupied by The Lunch Room, which moved into Detroit Street Filling Station during the pandemic.
