A Metro Detroit-based high-end luxury furniture retailer and interior design company is closing two of its showrooms. Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Design is shutting down its Troy and Southfield outlets on August 3. Public store-closing sales are scheduled to begin on August 15.
Gorman Plans to Close Two Metro Detroit Showrooms
Founded in 1940 by Ben Gorman, Gorman’s Home Furnishings & Interior Design started as a reseller of canned goods from damaged shipments. The company later expanded into the furniture industry.
The company built its reputation with high-quality, top-notch services, and modern-thinking design. It offers premier-style bedroom and dining collections, along with interior design services.
The company recently announced plans to consolidate its showroom operations. The Southfield showroom located at 29145 Telegraph Road, Southfield, and the Troy showroom located at 1465 W Big Beaver Road, Troy, are permanently closing.
According to The Detroit News, the showrooms will operate normally through August 3 before closing for store-closing sale preparations.
The company said existing orders, deliveries, and active interior design projects will continue as planned.
The company also shared the closure announcement on social media. The team wrote, “As Gorman’s enters a new chapter, our commitment to this community remains stronger than ever.” The team also thanked customers across Metro Detroit and Michigan for their support.

Gorman Continues Operations in Novi and Farmington Hills
While the two showrooms are closing, the company will continue operating its Novi showroom, Farmington Hills Three-Day Clearance Center, and warehouse.
After the closures, Novi will serve as Gorman’s primary full-line showroom and interior design location. The store will also help in preserving the company’s relationship with its vendors.
The Farmington Hills facilities will handle clearance sales, deliveries, customer service, and other ongoing operations.
The company stated that the inventory and resources in Novi will support a more sustainable operating structure. This will allow them to continue to serve the Metro Detroit and Michigan community.
With the closure of the Troy and Southfield showrooms, Gorman’s has strengthened its commitment to being more efficient and focusing on the growth of the company.
