A longtime fast-casual burger chain is getting a revival in Michigan.

Hot ‘n Now is expected to open two locations as early as this summer, The Detroit News reports. The restaurants are expected to open in Wayland and Alpena, with a metro Detroit location possible in the future. The restaurants will be drive-thru and walk-up only, according to the news outlet.

The team behind the new Hot ‘n Now locations is an entity called HNN Holdings LLC, a partnership between Gun Lake Investments and local developer and BCubed Manufacturing owner Jeff Konczak. The team acquired the Hot ‘n Now name in October 2024.

“This exciting expansion will combine Hot N’ Now’s cherished menu with cutting-edge modular drive-thru designs by BCUBED Manufacturing. Together, we’re honoring the brand’s legacy while creating an exciting new chapter – bringing delicious, affordable meals to new and loyal fans alike,” according to a post from Gun Lake Investments.

Hot ‘n Now was founded in Kalamazoo in 1984 and at one point had more than 150 locations. The menu was known for affordable American classics like burgers, shakes and cheesy taters. The company filed for bankruptcy in the early 2000s then was later acquired.

There is currently one Hot ‘n Now remaining in the state – in Sturgis, near the border with Indiana. The location recently announced that they joined DoorDash.
