International restaurant, Din Tai Fung, is set to relocate within the Bellevue Square located at 700 Bellevue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004.

First reported by Puget Sound Business Journal, the Taiwanese restaurant chain will be going from 7ooo square feet at its current location up to 17,000 square feet at the former Maggiano’s Little Italy space. “In recent week plans for a number of high-profile restaurants have been announced, including projects from Michelin-starred chefs and other cooking personalities,” the media outlet reported about the growing Bellevue dining scene.

A spokesperson for Din Tai Fung told What Now Seattle, “The new restaurant is designed by Rockwell Group and will feature a sophisticated design, elevating the ambiance of the dining experience. It will also feature a larger footprint, allowing us to accommodate more guests than in the previous location. We are grateful to have the ability to upgrade our equipment and working environment for our team members.”

Xiao Long Bao is their most popular dish and is the origin of what the restaurant has become today. Xiao Long Bao means “little dumpling in a basket.” They are broth-filled and steamed in a bamboo basket.

Din Tai Fung was “named one of the top ten gourmet restaurants in the world by The New York Times,” according to their website. There are over one hundred seventy locations across the globe, four of which are in the Seattle area.

The expected move to the new Bellevue Square location is Summer 2023.
