A new Thai restaurant is preparing to debut in East Cambridge.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, Kiin Thai Sushi will soon take over the former Similans space at 145 First St. Co-owner Teradate Suntorn confirmed this news with What Now Boston.

Focusing on traditional Thai cuisine, Kiin will feature original recipes from Suntorn’s wife’s family, who run a restaurant in Thailand. The menu will showcase elevated dishes like fried minced salmon with spicy mango sauce, crispy pork belly kra pao, Hat Yai-style fried chicken, fried lotus root with peanut sauce, and steamed striped bass with Thai chili lime sauce. An extensive cocktail menu will also be available.

Kiin is the sister restaurant to Chicken & Co. in Cambridge, known for its traditional Thai chicken and rice dishes. Both eateries are owned by Suntorn, Chef Akradech Thipcha, and Chef Utain Panpar.

While an official opening date has not yet been set, construction on the space is complete. Suntorn expects to have a clearer timeline within the next couple of weeks, with plans to open before the end of April 2025.
