New restaurant in Midtown’s Renaissance Hotel slated for January grand opening.

What Now Atlanta (WNA) first reported in September that Renaissance Midtown Atlanta Hotel would shutter its in-house restaurant Briza to make way for a new concept (Briza first replaced Pacci Ristorante when Hotel Palomar was purchased by Thayer Lodging Group and re-branded into the Renaissance brand.)

At the time, the hotel was in the process of creating the name and menu for the new concept, Zach Curry, Renaissance’s general manager overseeing the hotel, and food and beverage operation, told What Now Atlanta (WNA).

New details around the concept surfaced in Atlanta Magazine Wednesday.

Briza’s replacement will be Community Smith opening under the helm of Executive chef Micah Willix (previously of the short-lived Latitude at Phipps and Ecco).

The 137-seat restaurant with a twelve-seat patio is poised to be a “modern meatery,” Willix told Atlanta Magazine.
