In addition to our normal news coverage, What Now Atlanta is tracking ways Atlantaโs businesses are adapting to the novel coronavirus and the challenges it brings to brick-and-mortars.
After three months of being closed to slow the spread of COVID-19,ย Netherworld’s escape room gamesโEscape the NETHERWORLDโwill reopen to the public beginning Friday, June 19.
Escape rooms are games where teams, typically of two to four players, work towards the goal of escaping a themed room by solving puzzles and accomplishing tasks.
โWe are so excited to be reopening our doors to the public,โ Billy Messina, Netherworld co-founder, said in a press release this week.
โWhile this time has given us plenty of opportunity to prep for this seasonโs new haunts, we have missed hosting our community at our year-round attractions. As always, the safety of our guests, staff, and community is of the utmost importance to us, so we are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of everyoneโs health while still having fun.โ
As with other escape room attractions like The Escape Game which reopened in The Battery Atlanta in May, Escape the Netherworld is going above and beyond the state-issued safety guidelines for reopening.
For example, the gamemasters are “requesting” that guests use face masks and/or face shields while in public areas.
In addition to cleaning each room in between gamesโwhich includes disinfecting props, doorknobs, and touch surfaces with high-grade disinfectantsโadditional cleaning procedures “may include but are not limited to fogging the rooms with a non-toxic hospital-grade disinfectant.”
