Lidl has announced the grand opening of its Jonesboro location, at 8155 Tara Blvd., in a press release Monday. The ninth Georgia location for the international discount grocery store will hold its grand opening at 7:40 a.m. on August 5.
“The City of Jonesboro welcomes the new Lidl to our community, and we look forward to working as partners with Lidl to provide high quality products and a great shopping experience for our citizens,” Jonesboro Mayor Joy B. Day said in the release. “Lidl offers a diversified product assortment that will be like a fresh breeze to our community. We are excited that Jonesboro has been chosen for the location of this exciting new store.”
Lidl has been recognized by Food & Wine as one of the top 10 U.S. supermarkets. Though the grocery store offers high-quality products with hundreds of organic and gluten-free choices alongside specialty European items like cheeses and cured meats, the company is well known for their employee benefits.
In their COVID-19 update, the company has stated that anyone with a temperature that exceeds 100.4 will be sent home with pay. Additionally, the company features first-in-the-industry COVID-19 medical coverage for all their employees.
The Jonesboro store’s grand opening will feature first-come-first-serve special offers including a gift card for the first 100 customers, ranging from $5 to $100. Shoppers can also enter to win a $500 Lidl gift card and take advantage of special giveaways.
Wow, a shoutout from the Mayor.
How quaint.
