A Thai restaurant could be part of a project that’s remaking South Downtown.

A permit was filed in Atlanta earlier this month to bring TydeTate Kitchen to 229 Mitchell Street.

The restaurant would be about 1,100 square feet, according to the permit.

The applicant was an affiliate of Newport RE, the development and investment firm that’s acquired dozens of properties in South Downtown and is underway on a massive redevelopment.

TydeTate Kitchen currently has a stall at Chattahoochee Food Works, a food hall at The Works project in Atlanta’s Upper Westside.

In a phone call earlier this month, TydeTate owner Tana Bhamaraniyama said that the new location was not confirmed yet.

“We are scouting property … We haven’t confirmed South Downtown yet.”

Bhamaraniyama added that “I don’t want to say anything yet.” But he did say that “we definitely have something coming up.”

What Now Atlanta followed up with Bhamaraniyama for the latest details in an email on Tuesday, but did not receive a response.
