Food facilities across Las Vegas are often inspected by the Southern Nevada Health District for health violations. In its inspection rounds on April 11 and 12, the SNHD found multiple violations at Komol Restaurant and Flattop Burgers and Shakes, respectively.
Food inspectors have ordered the closure of both the Las Vegas eateries due to the nature of the violations.

Two Las Vegas Restaurants Shuttered Down
Flattop Burgers and Shakes and Komol Restaurant demonstrated unsatisfactory results during an inspection by the SNHD. The inspections highlighted dirty sanitary conditions, wrong cooking temperatures, and poor equipment in both places. While Flattop Burgers and Shakes got 14 demerit points, Komol Restaurant received 17.

This Las Vegas-based food truck has been serving delectable burgers along with hot dogs, fries, and custard shakes. Some of its burger dishes are bacon cheddar burgers, baja burgers, black and blue burgers, and Hawaiian chicken burgers.
However, in a health inspection conducted by the SNHD on April 12, the food truck failed to make it through. Food inspectors first observed a lack of adequate refrigeration at the eatery. They then added in the inspection report that Flattop Burgers and Shakes did not maintain proper TCS food parameters.
The inspection report also noted that equipment was not rightly operated and maintained at the Las Vegas eatery. Inspectors threw light on the issue of contaminated food by employees and consumers at Flattop Burgers and Shakes.
The report also highlighted that the food truck did not follow the correct pest control procedures as required by the SNHD.

Komol Restaurant has been a go-to spot for Las Vegas residents wanting to have Thai food. Menu highlights include Tom Yum soup, orange tofu, Thai tea, duck chili mint, and Laap-Kai chicken salad. The Las Vegas restaurant offers vegetarian dishes as well.
However, Komol Restaurant failed a health inspection by the SNHD on April 11. In their inspection report, food inspectors noted unsanitary conditions at the Thai restaurant. They particularly highlighted pest infestation in the report. Additionally, Komol Restaurant had contaminated food.
Sanitizer was missing from the Thai establishment’s handwash sink. Equipment was found to be in poor condition at Komol Restaurant. Important signboards for customers were missing at the Las Vegas eatery.
The inspection report noted that the person in charge was not present at the time of the inspection. Plus, mandated certification and food handler cards were also not available at Komol Restaurant.
Routine inspections by the Southern Nevada Health District are a reminder for Las Vegas restaurants to follow its health-related guidelines in their food premises. Failure to do so can lead to results like the closure of food facilities like Flattop Burgers and Shakes and Komol Restaurant.
