A colorful new café is buzzing toward Somerville.
The Buzzin’ Bean is preparing to open at 237 Holland St, announced owner Jayashree Venkataraman in a recent Facebook update.
“Get ready, Massachusetts!” she wrote. “We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of The Buzzin’ Bean, a vibrant vegetarian café coming soon to Somerville, MA. Our menu brings together flavors from around the world, alongside delicious drinks for everyone to enjoy“
The eatery will put a fresh, meat-free spin on classic café fare, featuring soups, salads, sandwiches, bowls, burgers, and weekly specials. Early highlights include the tandoori cauliflower tacos, grilled Caprese melt, Italian market salad, street corn burger, and southwest sizzle bowl—all packed with global flavor.
But The Buzzin’ Bean isn’t just serving up vibrant vegetarian fare—it’s creating opportunities. As the mother of an autistic teenager, Jayashree has long dreamed of creating a space rooted in inclusion, purpose, and possibility—a place where young adults with special needs can gain skills, grow their confidence, and find real community.
“Our main agenda and focus is to establish a place where we keep in mind the kids and special needs population,” she told What Now Boston. “[To] see how we can teach them and give a meaningful life to them, even if it’s only for a few hours.”
The Buzzin’ Bean is tenatively scheduled to welcome guests in about a month. For the latest opening day updates, follow the café on Instagram @buzzin_bean.
