The Larder & The Delta will no longer serve Southern American delicacies at its Osborn Road location. Its chef and owner, Stephen Jones, shared the disappointing news with loyal patrons through an Instagram post.

The restaurant debuted in DeSoto Central Market in 2015, later relocated to Portland on the Park in 2018 for five years before moving to Osborn Road.

The chef reflected on The Larder & The Delta’s new chapter on Instagram. He described it as a hoped‑for “defining chapter,” but said the “shuttering of this version of The Larder & The Delta for now” was necessary.

Jones ended the post by requesting Phoenix residents to support restaurants run by local chefs this summer. He cited increasing rents for the closure of some favorite eating spots in Phoenix. “If you want them to remain there, you have to visit them,” Jones added.

Pre-Paid Reservations Will be Refunded Due to Immediate Closure

The shutdown of The Larder & The Delta is effective immediately. For diners who have prepaid reservations at the Osborn Road-based eatery, refunds for prepaid reservations will be issued by Friday, June 20.

Since its debut last year at 2320 E Osborn Rd, the Phoenix establishment has served Southern-inspired dishes. The fine dining concept at The Larder & The Delta further drew patrons. Menu highlights included innovative dishes like crispy chicken skin with honey and pig‑ear chicharrón alongside lemon‑ricotta pancakes.

About Stephen Jones

The Larder & The Delta owner is a lauded name in the US culinary space. Based on his cooking skills and emphasis on Southern cuisine, Jones was nominated thrice for the James Beard Award.

The chef demonstrated his inclination for dishes rooted in Southern cuisine in his latest farewell post for the Phoenix restaurant. Jones said that while The Larder & The Delta’s journey was ending, he hoped it was not meant to be forever. This is because he believes that Southern food items are best suited to the fine dining atmosphere.

The Larder & The Delta’s sudden closure marks a significant moment in Phoenix’s culinary scene. While Stephen Jones’ passion was short-lived, his farewell post hinted at a potential return. The post emerges as a reminder to support local, chef-led restaurants as well.
