Firenze Restaurant & Pizzeria, a beloved Italian‑American restaurant in Warren, opened on July 10, 1964, and closed permanently on June 21, 2025, according to its official website. The establishment shut down without prior notice or explanation, leaving many long‑time patrons deeply saddened.

The restaurant was known for its authentic pizza, ravioli, and a wide menu offering burgers, sandwiches, etc. There was a word that the restaurant revamped its menu and outlet, and a few days back, star chef Gordon Ramsay also visited. He came there to analyze and suggest how Firenze can improve, which was a part of his TV show format.

Even after revamp attempts and a visit by a famous personality, the restaurant could not keep up with its operations. This reveals how tough the restaurant industry can get at times. The decision to close down without a clear explanation raises questions about what could have been wrong. Currently, fans of the local pizzeria will have to find another place to get their favorite Italian dishes.

  • Ramsay did not visit a few days ago. It was weeks ago, when he was filming for his show called Secret Service. He gets information from an inside source regarding the problems at the restaurant with the staff and the food, and they take him into the restaurant after hours to inspect it, and he inspects the kitchen with a black light to expose the dirt and bacteria. That was probably embarrassing for the current owners, who are the first owners ever who are not family members. Ramsay apparently had many suggestions about how to improve the food. I’ll bet he did. The food there was never delicious. It was mostly just edible. Used to go there all during the 80’s. Pizza and antipasto salad were ok. Once in a while a cannelloni or manicotti or something like that. The shrimp was good in the early 80’s, but then they cheaped out and got lower quality ones. Then everything got bad. Not authentic Italian. Went downhill in the 90’s. It was an old and dated restaurant and wasn’t very clean. Tried to go for dinner about 3 years ago after not being there in decades, and there was a dead fly on my salad when it was brought out. Walked out immediately. It supposedly improved recently, but people I know who went said they didn’t. I was at an event for Christmas, 2024 and they catered it, and the food was just ok. Nothing to brag about. People would go there because in the 80’s and 90’s the prices were good. It was a casual, family-type restaurant. The “re-opening” was on June 10. Owners promised customers would be “wowed” with new menu items, but that they were keeping the “old favorites” (whatever those were), some as daily specials. Some family members went to the re-opening, and said the prices were raised significantly; 21.00 for lasagna. That is too expensive for that area, which is run down and lower-income (only 2 miles north of detoilet), and for that type of restaurant. They charge that much at 2 authentic, little more upscale, very popular Italian restaurants: one on 22 and Van Dyke and one on Clinton River and Garfield. It appears the owners want to sell since the place was remodeled, and to take the money and run since they ran the restaurant into the ground. People who have hired them to cater events are now frantic. People are trying to get refunds so they can hire someone else A family member was thinking of hiring them to cater an event at the end of the summer, and we urged them to find someone else because of the quality of the food. It’s a good thing they didn’t hire them.
