The store centered around donations is growing in Southwest Michigan.
Goodwill is constructing a new location at 6459 Cherry Meadow Drive SE in Caledonia Township, from a recent social media announcement. This is the newest store to be opened by the company’s Grand Rapids branch, and the furthest south one they have introduced thus far. It is expected to debut sometime in mid-2027.
The company currently has 19 Goodwill locations in the Grand Rapids area, including the most recent one. From conceptual pictures, the new store will have both a main entrance and a drop-off center off to the side. What Now Detroit has reached out, CEO of the Grand Rapids division Jill Wallace and is awaiting comment.
The national chain already has a new presence in the Great Lakes State, and is known for their many apparel options, toys and games, household goods and electronics. It is categorized as secondhand retail and a thrift store, and was founded in 1902 in Boston. Now, it has grown to over 150 independent stores nationwide.
The property is on the east side of Cherry Avenue SE, near the intersection of 84th Street SE. Businesses also at this location include an Autozone, Taco Bell and an orthodontics office. This is also close to a cluster of neighborhoods.
